The Greater Houston area is blessed to have a world-class zoo to enjoy, and the holidays are the perfect time to enjoy it! From November 17th through January 13th, Zoo Lights transforms the Houston Zoo into a nighttime winter wonderland you won’t want to miss. Now in its 7th year, Zoo Lights has truly become a Houston holiday tradition.

Over two million lights cover the Zoo’s beautiful oak trees and winding paths. The distance covered by these earth-friendly LED lights is a whopping fifteen miles. That’s a lot of sparkle and joy! The animals may be sleeping while you stroll the pathways, but there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained. The giant Holiday Tree will dazzle even the biggest Grinch, and kids young and old will marvel at the Holiday Train Village and the Enchanted Forest. There’s even an interactive talking zebra to meet and the opportunity to meet Santa most nights.

Make sure to grab a warm cup of hot chocolate to fuel your explorations. You’ll find plenty of refreshments along the path, including a BBQ food truck serving smoked meats and roasted corn. You might want to save some room for dessert though since it’s hard to resist the maker your own s’mores.

The Zoo will be closed December 19th, 24th and 25th. In addition to Zoo Lights, the Zoo is open for viewing the animals during normal daytime hours. For more information and tickets, visit the Zoo’s website here.
