Houston is a city with a rich history to explore. Rayford Crossing’s fantastic location puts you in close proximity to Houston’s many attractions and places of interest while letting you “get away from it all.” One of the most fascinating places to visit while staying with us is the 1940 Air Terminal Museum. Visiting the Museum is a true treat, as it gives you a front row seat to Hobby Airport’s diverse operations. You can scope out airline traffic, business aviation, and even frequent fixed-wing and rotary-wing general aviation traffic.
The terminal was the first commercial flight terminal in Houston (and the only terminal for some time.) Now, the Museum occupies the entire ground floor of this historic Terminal, with restoration of the observation decks and tower cab ongoing. The 1928 Carter Field Airmail Hangar was also recently restored. Exhibits trace the history of Houston aviation. You’ll also enjoy the incredible Art Deco architecture that has been lovingly preserved thanks to the Houston Aeronautical Heritage Society.
The Museum is located at 8325 Travelair Street, Houston, Texas 77061, on the west side of Hobby Airport, just east of Telephone Road. For hours of operation, admission, and more information, visit their website here.
