When you stay at Rayford Crossing, you’re a short drive away from everything Houston has to offer. One of the city’s most surprising attractions for visitors is often the Theater District. With so many cultural events and shows to chose from, you’ll find something that everyone will love!

While the Greater Houston area contains many venues, the heart of Houston’s cultural events remains in the downtown Theater District. The premier venues host a wide variety of events, however each venue is primarily known for a particular style. Check out The Alley Theatre for both classic plays and ground-breaking new work. Jones Hall brings world-renowned artists and groups to a Houston stage. The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts is the place to see a variety of musicals and catch traveling Broadway shows. The grand dame of the group, the Wortham Center, hosts the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet’s talented artists.

Shows and events take place year-round in Houston, however the Fall is generally considered the “kick-off” time. The season begins with a district open house on Sunday, August 26th. This year’s open house is especially poignant, as it will be the public’s first look at venues that sustained extensive damage from 2017’s Hurricane Harvey. This year also marks the 25th Anniversary of the open house, where the public can get an inside look at the venues and view free performances.
